Training for the Cultural Data Project and MCACA Minigrants on August 8 in Traverse City

NorthSky is sponsoring training in Traverse City on August 8, 2012 for Arts & Cultural Groups. Two training sessions will be held for Arts & Cultural organizations on Wednesday, August 8, beginning at 10 am at the Traverse City Area Chamber of Commerce Commerce (202 E Grandview Parkway, Traverse City, MI 49684) and will also be available via webinar from one’s own computer.


New User Training for the Cultural Data Project (CDP) will be presented 10-11:30 a.m. in Traverse City at the Chamber of Commerce and will also be available via webinar from one’s own computer. Those already registered with the CDP will also benefit from refresher and reporting information. Staff will be available to answer questions and assist new and continuing CDP users. Please note that any organization planning to apply for grants through the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs – including Program and Operational Support grants and Minigrants MUST be registered for the Cultural Data Project in order to be considered. MCACA Regrant Information & Technical Assistance 12-1:30 p.m in Traverse City at the Commerce of Commerce and will also be available via webinar from one’s own computer. Information regarding upcoming grant opportunities through Michigan Council for Arts & Cultural Affairs, with emphasis on the regrant (“minigrant”) program will be held beginning at noon in the same meeting room at the Chamber of Commerce. Applications and guidelines for the 2013 granting period should be available the first week of August and will be presented at this session. Minigrants are awarded annually for arts and cultural projects in Antrim, Benzie, Grand Traverse, Leelanau, Kalkaska, Manistee, Missaukee and Wexford counties. Nonprofit administrators and/or volunteers are invited to attend. The session will cover grants, process, new changes for 2013 and grant writing tips. Participants are welcome to come with project ideas, grant questions, and general inquiries.


Open Work Session 11:30-1:30 in Traverse City at the Chamber of Commerce. Participants at either session are welcome to bring laptops to access into the CDP and/or MCACA sites through the Chamber’s wi-fi. Those wishing to enter information for the CDP should bring past financial reports with them (see CDP site for information). Technical grant writing assistance will also be available.
