United Way Volunteer Center

NorthSky Nonprofit Network serves as a partner with the United Way Volunteer Center of Northwestern Michigan in recruiting and training volunteers for nonprofit organizations. Volunteer assignments may take many forms including short term projects, long term volunteer roles, or board of director seats. Visit the United Way Volunteer Center. http://www.volunteernwmi.org/
NorthSky offers ongoing workshops focused on volunteer recruitment, management and volunteer skill enhancement. Our workshops range from “Break for Lunch” sessions focused on specific skill development to more comprehensive ½ to all day sessions.
Through NorthSky’s Board Governance education series, community members learn what it takes to be an effective board member and how to find a nonprofit board in need of your skills and enthusiasm. We introduce you to the United Way Volunteer Center’s volunteer matching web site and show you how to get started in creating a personal profile and beginning your search for a volunteer or board assignment.
Through the Board Governance series, nonprofit boards can also participate in training to understand how to build a better board. Participants will also learn the important aspects of recruiting new board members including how to access the United Way’s pool of trained community members.
