“Lead to Succeed: How to Take Charge and Be Recognized”

This 90-minute webconference is applicable to any entry to mid-level professional in a fund development and nonprofit management position.
In today’s management universe, we are all doing a minimum of three extra jobs that are not necessarily within our “job descriptions.” In other words, we are not a primary color work force, instead we are a kaleidoscope of responsibilities. How do we get recognized and rewarded for this extra work and how do we do it for those that report to us? How do we define what is extra and what is just expected? Most importantly, who should be noticing our leadership skills that empower our internal and external constituencies? Whether you are an organization of two people or a complex, multi-tiered group, join us as we learn the “right” leadership skills that will get you successfully noticed, recognized and “primed” for your next promotion.

Learning objectives:

  • Exploring what it takes to make a great “leader.”
  • Defining who is your boss and how to deal with multiple bosses (it is not as obvious or simple as you think it is!)
  • Detailing the few things you can do that will reap big rewards.
  • Gaining the recognition you deserve and learning how to reward others (beyond a raise).
  • Leading your team to success by managing above, sideways and below.

About the presenter: Laura Fredricks, JD, vice president for philanthropy at Pace University in New York City, is an internationally known fundraiser, speaker and author of Developing Major Gifts (Jones and Bartlett) and The Ask (John Wiley & Sons.)
