"Rethinking Resources: Responding to New Volunteer Demographics"

Nonprofits are challenged with fewer resources and growing demands. Expanding your use of volunteers, including using nontraditional types of volunteers in a variety of new roles, may be a solution for your organization. With Boomers and Youth as the largest and fastest growing segments of our northwest Michigan population, these skilled and energized citizens are looking for higher level, more meaningful ways to engage with nonprofits. Includes continental breakfast and lunch.

Learn how to become a volunteer-driven organization with different and creative models for managing and utilizing volunteers. We’ll discuss creating a “volunteer-friendly” culture and removing barriers within your organization. Specific topics will include:

  • Trends in volunteering and profiles of the new volunteer
  • Conducting a volunteer program assessment including evaluating your organization’s receptivity and  capacity to attract and retain volunteers
  • Expanding your volunteer program to connect with a new volunteer demographic and create roles that respond to their needs.
  • Gaining staff commitment and support for volunteers
  • Using volunteers in leadership roles including managing other volunteers
  • Revising your volunteer infrastructure to meet changing needs and requirements
  • Managing the problem volunteer
  • Coaching and delegation skills

Space is limited; registration is required!
